Citizens Bank of Northern California has chosen to participate in the transaction account guarantee component of the FDIC Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program.
As of October 14, 2008, all non-interest bearing transaction deposit accounts at our participating FDIC-insured institution, including all personal and business checking deposit accounts that do not earn interest, are fully insured for the entire amount in the deposit account. This unlimited insurance coverage is temporary and will remain in effect until December 31, 2010. Health Savings Accounts and Tiered Interest Checking Accounts do not qualify for this program, but fall under the regular FDIC’s insurance program.
On July 21, 2010, FDIC deposit insurance was permanently increased from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor per insured depository institution for each account ownership category.
